Burgers and Snowstorms and Elk, Oh My!
Hi again! It's me, the wild, hott, and "Sexy El!" Ah, I love hanging out with Clay! He always makes me feel like so glamorous, because he finds all my stories to be deliciously outrageous, and tells me what an exciting life I lead. I beg to differ, but it's still nice to feel exciting, and like my old "International Woman of Mystery/Countess Eleanor/Mountain Mama/Turkish Delight" self. Clay and I chose to live in the past today, and so we wore our high school letter jackets out to none other than the delightful Burger Plus West, and feasted upon fries with the indispensable fry sauce. Mr. Greek was his usual wonderful self, and actually even more talkative than usual, and two of the Little Greeks were there! We then drove past Lakewood HS, and then went on to Michaels to buy pretty paper for Clay to write on in Chinese calligraphy (he's an Asian Studies major). Since Clay and I were both feeling a great need for expensive coffee (something I haven't had nearly enough of in recent months), we went to the Village Roaster, where none other than Alysha Havey was working! I never really got to know her, but it was interesting because Clay and I had been talking about her and her older brother earlier. Mmm, then Clay and I watched the extended edition of The Return of the King, and admired all the handsome fellows in it at length, and discussed how much we love the "grunge chic" look that Orlando Bloom had going when he was making the movies. Speaking of which, Becca and I were at the Conifer Safeway on Sunday night, and saw a guy who was the spitting image of Orlando Bloom. I kid you not. I nearly hit a parked car. Ok, maybe it wasn't that bad, but Becca and I were pretty excited. That lucky, lucky man, and that lucky, lucky girl who was with him. Once again, some of the excitement came from the coincidence- I'd been making much of/making fun of (I'm very torn about Orlando) an Orlando Bloom calendar at the mall earlier. *a much overdue paragraph break* Something else that's exciting in Eleanor-land, is that last night Sheila Kelly (my old bellydance teacher) had a rather petite hafla at her house! I got to see Crystal ("OOOeeee, Eleanor's still got It, and more!" I love that woman dearly) again! She's got a gig singing with an Elvis impersonator in Vegas in late January, I think, and so she might ride down to Phoenix with me, and stay with her cousin there! It'd be nice to have the company, and she's about as exciting as ten regular people put together. I mean, who do you know that can just walk into a casino and be offered a gig like that? She's a character, I tell you, and quickly becoming a spectacular dancer! ("Boom Boom!") Anyway, it was also exciting because I got to see Sheila again, show off my bad ass choreography skillz with "Spanish Dog" and my improv. skillz. [Oh, it's so much more fun to have a big ego like this. Eleanor, where have you been?] Also, I got an e-mail address of someone who another dancer knows, whose family lives in Egypt, and who vends belly dance costumes! This is exciting, because I'm hoping to buy at least one, hopefully more costumes for myself while in Egypt, and hopefully buy a few to sell on ebay and hopefully make back a few hundred dollars of what I spend on my vacation. *crosses fingers* I hope it all works out! *paragraph break* Ok, so this has been a really long blog, so I'll end. But really quick, I'll explain the rest of the title of this blog- I drove home from Clay's almost entirely in 2nd gear, in a snowstorm. And there were elk. Nearly caused me to swerve- I'm just glad that one didn't spook and take me out like that bull did to my brother the first time my parents let him take the new car out late. :-) Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a sleep-filled night!
