Happy New Year!
Happy 2005, everyone! I rang in the new year at the Chateau d'Mesie McMoochieshortsworth, with Amy herself, her brother Ian, Clay, Sabrinah (yay!), Emily, Londyn (wtf???), Steppie and Melanna. We played that classic, wonderful game Trivial Pursuit, and had a rolicking good time, even if there were no midnight kisses, and some folks just can't appreciate the joys of light eggnog.
Anyway, I thought I should probably try something new since it's the new year, and why not try making a resolution or two? I don't think I've done it since elementary school, when they force you to write down things like "I will keep my room clean" and "I will break the world record on the monkey bars" even though you are too young to have willpower. Confronted with the task of coming up with a resolution, my first inclination was to be lazy, and let a few lines of code invent one for me. The result was:
In the year 2005 I resolve to: |
But this didn't sound like a terribly hot idea. Painful, yes. Hot, no. So, I tried again:
In the year 2005 I resolve to: |
Once again, I find my resolution rather... uninspiring. So, here it is, Eleanor's List of Resolutions for the New Year:
1) Be ambitious. Everything else on this list basically fits under this overarching resolution. If there's one thing that I've figured out, it's that only ambitious people ever really accomplish something in life, no matter how smart or fun they are. I have also figured out that I am not ambitious. I have just a large enough glimmer to know that I want to accomplish something, but not the drive to actually, you know, do it. If I can persuade myself to do what an ambitious person would do, though, maybe I stand a chance.
2) Eat right. How is this related to ambition, you may ask? Well, I can tell you that I can get a lot more done if I haven't just crashed from a sugar or caffeine high. Plus, it'll take ambition to persuade me to actually cook.
3) Try not to fall in love. Seriously Eleanor, you like people too much.
4) Lose 30 pounds. I know, this sounds like a lot, but it's really not- ya'll just don't know how much I weigh. Also, I'm surprisingly happy at my current weight, but I'd rather be healthy than support my current bad habits. This ties in, you see, with the eating right bit, and I think it's not at all unreasonable to shoot for daily exercise tae boot.
5) Be more proactive with CS. This includes being on-time, going to membership development events, completing the calendar, directing a day camp this semester, Having monthly Big Camp meetings at first, and then weekly starting in April, getting to know the members better through social events, and learning about mediation.
6)Learn how to cook butternut squash.
Alright, that's all for now! I'll probably come up with some more tasks to saddle myself with later. ^_^ But I do hope that it's a good year for everyone! I love you guys! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxoxox!!!!!
