Molly is back!

Last night was Matt Neff's much anticipated Eighties Party! We had a Robert Smith there, "Iceman" from Top Gun, Devo, and I was, naturally, Molly Ringwald. It was probably one of the best times I have ever had sober. Lady Hayden came, complete with side-ponytail and ripped jeans with pink tights underneath, and I think we had a darn near AWESOME time! Oh, and Alex and John are both in the Latin/Ballroom/Swing Dance class, so they taught me how to tango and rumba! And how can a night with the Safety Dance be any less than great anyway? ("Dancez!") Some guy named Milos danced stupid eighties dances with me, and you know how I love dancing. Anyway, a great night. Here's a tidbit of Hayden and I:

Marvelousness

So today was full to the brim with marvelousness. I slept in late, had all variety of strange dreams, and woke up feeling good. I made valentines for Sarah and Adrienne (and burned myself on my heat tool- ouchies), and then went over to Nick and Tristan's. I finally got to meet Ruthi. I was kind of suspicious of their relationship just because the age difference is so huge, but Tristan and Ruthi seem to have a lot of fun together. We went to the pet store to meet Bear, which is what Nick has named the black Chow-Chow puppy there that he has fallen in love with. Bear is like an adorable teddy bear! So very cute! oo,isawiddlepuppy! Anyway, that pet store is awesome- they have all sorts of saltwater fish, anemones and clams. I had no idea that clams were pretty! I am considering getting a betta fish. He could live on my desk.
Post petshop we went back to Nick and Tristan's, and Nick and I played Smash Brothers! I'd heard about its existence a thousand times from Mat, but he had never actually invited me to play, so this was my first time. It was pretty entertaining, and I was really excited when I was actually able to complete a level.

I lost track of time while playing video games, so I had to rush off to Casino Night for CS. It was pretty cool- I went out quickly in poker, and played really bad pool, but I had fun.

So after this it was back to Nick and Tristan's to pick up the two of them plus Ruthi and head to Cold Stone. We went and looked at the condos where N and T want to live next year, and then headed down to Tempe Town Lake to watch all the "dead bodies" floating by. It was really pleasant- I'd never been down there when there weren't thousands of people there before. I've always wanted to go down by the lake and take pictures of Mill Bridge and its reflection- I'm definitely going to have to go back soon to do so.

We headed back to N and T's, and Big T and Ruthi "retired", but I ended up sticking around and hanging out with Nick until 2:30.

Anyway, the summary of all this is: I had a really marvelously pleasant day. I hope you did too. Here's to repeat occasions: *clink!*

And a parting song lyric:
"Slow down you crazy child,
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell
me why
you are still so afraid?
Where's the ire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
you got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day
But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
When will you realize... Vienna waits for you..."

Current Mood: chipper

Alright folks, so the two coolest things I saw today were:
1) A guy walking around on Mill with a cat walking around on his shoulders and the top of his backpack.
2) A privately owned hearse, complete with bumber stickers. "Harold and Maude" is the best movie ever.

Alright, so there's all sorts of stuff to share. First off, last Friday was my rockin' 20th Birthday. That's right, I'm old. Ha! I win! I made it past 20! Now I get the bonus round!
On my birthday I got to get up at six for Camp Sparky. We had a Natural Disasters Camp at Baltz Elementary, and it was pretty sweet. Lynne, Eric, and Alison were awesome! When I arrived at Lot 17 in the morning, they greeted me with big helium balloons, a card, and a doughnut with a candle in it. They all sang me "Happy Birthday," and then I got to blow my candle out. It was awesome.
My station, which was talking to the kids about Tsunamis and then writing letters and poems about them, went pretty well. Counselors kept getting the kids to sing "Happy Birthday" to me, which cracked me up.
After the camp, when I was thinking about taking a nap, I decided to go work out instead, so I was crazy-pumped at dinner. It was at Tres Margheritas, and a couple of non-CS folks came, like Alex and Levi. Lynne of course told them that it was my birthday, so as I was sitting there telling a story, I suddenly had a giant red-velvet sombrero on my head, and a plate of sopapillas before me. Everyone started singing Happy Birthday (for the fifth time that day, lol), and the waitress behind me attempted to feed me a spoonful of whipped cream. Unfortunately, I had not been advised as to its arrival, and therefore I ended up with whipped cream all over my face, and a large glob on my left breast. Here's the best part- apparently a waiter across the table from me leaned over, stuck out his tongue, and said, "I'll get that for ya!"

Riiiiiiiiigggght.

So anyway, after Tres Margheritas Alex and Lynne went to see "The Wedding Date," and I stoically let them do so without inviting myself along to make sure everything stayed platonic. I'm very proud of myself for that, let me assure you. You should be proud of me too. Yes, you.

As for me, I went with Tom to his friend Daniel's wine and cheese party. Turns out I was the youngest person there- Daniel is a thirty year old Peruvian who was brought here by AISEC to do an internship. (This didn't prevent him from hitting on me all night, and insisting repeatedly that he was only 19 years old, hahaha.) The wines and food were all wonderful, with the definite exception of the 5-Liter box of "Sunrise Blush" boxed wine that Tom brought. I thought it tasted like sugar water, but Danny insisted that it tasted like Church. Having never tasted church wine before, I'm afraid that I cannot corroborate his account.
So the wine and cheese party was a rollicking good time, even if I have trouble hearing what everyone's saying sometimes. Tom got hilariously drunk, and kept saying things like "Eleanor's a lesbian!" and giggling unstoppably, at which I would have to jokingly correct him and insist that I'm only half-way there, since I happened to find Danny kinda cute. Daniel kept trying to pour me more wine, and giving me more cigarettes, and we got into an intense discussion of soccer. Turns out that when he was a kid he played on the Peruvian national team until he broke his tibia and fibula in a game against the Argentinians at age 13. Awesome!!!

Speaking of soccer, the Camp Sparky Team had its first practice on Sunday and its first game on Teusday... and we whooped ASS!!!! Seriously, we stomped them, 4-0. I play goalie, which is way exciting. Zak brought this hilarious padded shirt for me to wear, plus gigantic goalie gloves, so I can actually grip the ball. I got to block a goal kick that totally would've made it in if I hadn't gotten it, and I got to do some yelling. The ball was coming across my box, and I started to run for it. This girl from the other team was also going for it, and knowing that I'm a slow runner, I started yelling as I ran towards it. It worked! She totally slowed down, so I got there first! Wo0t! I really enjoy the role of the aggressive, intimidating goalie- the number on my jersey is 666. I was so pumped after the game! *Triumphal roar!*

Also, I went on Saturday to see "In Good Company" with Hanners, Lady Hayden, and The Mapes of Wrath. I like that movie. I thought you should know. Anyway, after that Hayden, Hanners, Tristan, Linds and I went to dinner at the Phoenicea Cafe, and then went back to my place for rasberry screwdrivers and a rousing game of Apples to Apples, which is right up there with Cranium, Scrabble, and Zigity as an awesome game.

Ooh, and this weekend is CCI, and Ryan bought a sleepingbag for me for $20 with his discount at Sports Authority! Huzzah!

Oooooh!!!!!! And we did an awesome Raku Firing! It was incredible! I have orange/moss green/copper pots with pretty feet! Everyone should come over to see my pots. Or maybe I'll put a picture of them online. Yes, I'll do that.

Alright, so for today's online quizzes:

You are a Fork.

You are special, unique... and shiny.... but you just don't know it. Many admire you for your outward appearance, but you haven't truly expressed all of the great stuff inside of you. You have the potential to do great things and help others, and this will help you in the future. When you hold a grudge at someone, however, this can be dangerous. Despite your calmness that most people perceive about you, you keep a lot of feelings bottled up inside that one day can make you explode and stab something. Instead of resorting to that, you can say, "Go Fork Yourself!"

Most compatible with: Knife, and Sock.

Angst

Becca seems to think my blogs are a bit too... angsty. I find this ironic since when I read them they seem very peppy to me, enough so that it kind of annoys me.

Anyway, it's February 1st, and I figure that as my new ambitious self, I ought to do some checking in on my new year's resolutions. So here's the update: *suddenly runs out of steam.* actually, I'm going to procrastinate on this one and go to bed instead. mmm, sleep.

Oh, and btw, Sarah and I went next door tonight and visited with Love Muscle, who was over visiting some friends and trying to have a barbeque. I say trying because they spent an hour and a half cooking the steaks, and they still weren't done. There was marshmallow throwing to pass the time, apparently. Oh, and today I went to a lecture by a docent from the PAM on 20th Century Photography- it was an amazing whirlwind of information- she attempted to cover it all in a single hour. Very impressive.

Oh and Nick! I've been listening to the mixed CD you made for me in the car the last couple of days- it's awesome! You rock... like granite....
