way sweet

I saw/heard the coolest thing today! I was sitting at a stoplight, and this car pulled up next to mine. There was a young guy in it, and he had subwoofers blasting so loudly that his door panels were all vibrating. This would have been really obnoxious, but I couldn't fault him after I realized that HE WAS LISTENING TO ZAIDEKO (sp?)! So cool!

In other news, we had a surprise (shh!) birthday party for Adrienne tonight, and it was great. We all hid in her room and Scott brought her back like they were going to make out... and then SURPRISE!!! She was very suprised, and screamed, etc. It was great, and we hung out for a while. It was a very short-lived party, though, since it is, after all, Wednesday night, and we all had things we should have been doing. (I, for one, brought my physics homework out to the livingroom with me :-P)

Alright, sleep time! I have an ARS quiz tomorrow morning, so I'd better be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed! :-*

Scheduling, etc.

Haha, I just had a long conversation with Becca, and have come to the conclusion that I'm an effeminate bisexual man trapped in the body of a gorgeous, sexy woman. Q'elle dommage.

I just submitted my preregistration request for next fall, and it should be quite the semester. Genetics, jewelry studio, ceramic handbuilding, precolumbian art, brief calc, cultural encounters, and physics lab. If I'm wise, I'll study some calc this summer to prepare myself. I think it's the only class I can really get a head start on. The good news is that I'll be living super close to campus, so I'll have all this extra time that I'm not spending driving all over the place, and will probably be feeding that into my schoolwork. The other good news is that I'll be living with Lindsey (Yay!) which should pretty much kick ass! I'm really looking forward to next fall, but I should probably do some focusing on, you know, completing this semester :-P

And with that, I go to study chemistrizzle. Go team electrochemistry!

Shiny!

Ah, Cairo, land of bellydance costumes...

That's my "Sharene" costume (the name of Maureen O'Hara's character in "Sinbad the Sailor," lol), and I love it. Love, love, love.

So, I pretty much spent today focusing very hard on being chill- anyone who spoke to me last night knows that I was a little... *ahem* stressed out... (kind of a huge understatement)... by a certain situation which shall not be mentioned. It's a little hard to focus on relaxing- it's a bit of an oxymoron. I did my best, however, and was helped by an overwhelming exhaustion, which a venti latte only slightly helped with. Despite an almost pleasant sleepyness, I had fun going to ceramics and making round forms and hanging out with Ian (my new ceramics buddy, since Ryan is MIA). Oh yeah, and "Awesome Shino" was named that because everyone hated it. Why? Because it's a hideously boring gray. Kurt, you will rot for that one :-P (j/k, of course, I don't actually want my prof to rot. He's cool, he donated something to the Camp Sparky silent auction today. Hurrah! Oh, and double hurrah, because he complimented my pot AND my necklace! This is exciting because thus far this semester Kurt has implemented a policy of ignoring my very existence. Kinda was making me nervous about grading.)

oh, so I'm really excited because I'm going to have coffee with Mel a week from tomorrow! Melanor forever! Plus, it'll be neat going to the 3 Roots Cafe- I've still not gone there despite about a million people telling me that I should go with them at some point.

Random

So, I had lunch at the Phoenicea Cafe today. It was really crowded outside because a large group had reserved the entire inside. I decided to order some arabic coffee, but I noticed that there was this guy and his dog waiting for a table. So, when I spoke to the waiter to order my coffee, I suggested that the guy could sit with me. He did, and we chatted a bit. Nice dog. He eventually moved to a now-open table.

Point of the story: The part of me that is an impartial observer of all my doings shook its head in wonder that I just invited this guy to come sit with me. Not because it's a particularly unusual thing to do, but because I can be so different on different days. Some days, it would never have occurred to me to do such a thing. It seriously would never have entered my mind. Other days, like today, it seems the most natural thing in the world.

Alright, I'd better go face up to the reality that is my physics homework. There's a lecture on Darwin, Design, and Democracy that Lynchipoo is giving tomorrow, I think I'm going to catch it with Lindsey, which will be nice.

P.S. I hate glazing. Who the F names a glaze "Awesome Shino" and then doesn't do any test tiles? Tim, that's who! Tim, my shino-ware had better look damn "awesome," kappish? Not that Tim reads my blog. Oh well.

Nothing

I have nothing to say. I should probably go to bed. Goodnight.

Salaam

Salaam!

I am enjoying the luxury of having a purring cat on my lap. I'm hanging out at my sister's apartment with her cat, Ginger, whom you may remember as the background on my monitor back home in Tempe, whilst my sister is off at choir practice and her roommates Liz and Linda are out- I don't know where Liz is, but Linda is off celebrating International Women's Day, which is apparently a big deal in Norway. Gotta love the Norwegians. Oh, and it's raining outside. It's pretty bizarre.

Anyway, just in case anyone is checking my blog I wanted to say that I made it to Cairo safe and sound, and am gradually- very gradually- getting over the combination of jet lag and sleep deprivation.

Ya'll will have to hear about my adventures and misadventures in person, I think, but here's a picture of me... bet you can't guess where! ;-)

*Hiccough!*

*hiccough!* eek, they're back. You should've heard me hiccoughing in physics lecture yesterday. It was echoing.

Anyway, big news! My brother Owen, and his friend (Nan? I think that's her name) are having a baby! Yes, that's right, a baby. I'm going to be an aunt! Isn't that wild?

Alright, so that's the big news... in other news I had a crazy day yesterday- test, then trying desperately to finish physics homework and not quite doing so, running into the LRC to make a graph during lunch, a three hour chem lab (resplendent with cranky lab group, ugh), grabbing a sandwich and moving my car (which I had parked illegally at the Harkins Centerpoint so that I'd be on time to my test, since I overslept), a three and a half hour Chem review session, and then I had to go to the ceramics room to trim these big bowls I made so that they can dry out while I'm out of town. I was then finally able to come home and start packing... though I ended up going on a 1AM milkshake run with Nick and Tristan. Mmm, QT milkshakes. Oh, and we were sitting around on the sofa bed at 2AM, when who should walk through the door but Nick's dad and brother! It was cool to finally meet them.

Anyway, I'd better get back to packing! Have a great couple of weeks, you guys, and I'll see you March 19th! :-*

Look at those handsome devils!
